Appeal for Donation

We are happy to report that the seed sown in January 1993, by the Grace of Almighty Allah, has taken firm roots and 2011-2012 was a watershed year.

Hassan Academy Special Education Centre was established in a small, modest rented house in Mehrabad, Rawalpindi as a project of “Educational Welfare Society for Disable Children”, registered with Provincial Directorate of Social Welfare. It was later recognized by Federal Ministry of Special Education, Pakistan and National Commission for UNESCO and was documented by University of Punjab as “Good practicing model of Inclusive Education”.

Development Works

The school-cum-hostels for boys and girls in Gulhanabad, Adyala Road, Rawalpindi are now operational with 85 special children (50 boys and 35 girls) living permanently in the hostel. We must reiterate that our gratitude to Mr. Munir Ahmed Gondal of Saudi Arabia knows no bound for his extremely generous contribution in developing this centre. He virtually built it single handedly. May Allah Kareem bless him with profuse reward for this Sadqa-e-Jaria in this world and the Hereafter. This development has greatly added to our capacity and flexibility. We are now able to accommodate more resident children, boy and girls, as well as day scholars from the localities that we were not serving previously.

We had reported last year that the Capital Development Authority, Islamabad, after due diligence by all concerned including security agencies, had allotted us a plot of land measuring 1.27 acres (55270 sq ft) at Park Road, Chak Shehzad, Islamabad for another special education facility. We have since developed its Master Plan, which has been approved by CDA, and construction work has recently commenced, in June 2012. At current prices, it is estimated that the whole project will cost Rs.60.00 Million.

we are happy to report further that Allah Almighty's blessings are with ua and in addition to quite a few individual donations, we have received a grant of about Rs.9.00 Million from the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan for the construction of first block (covered area 10,000 sq ft consisting of 22 rooms). They approved this grant after their independent assessment of the need of the project and our capability, capacity and credentials to complete this project, and manage its operations efficiently and transparently. We are certain that with the help of our philanthropic patrons, this project will be completed very soon.

Current Operations:

We consider it our prime duty to keep our kind patrons apprised of the Society's operations. Accordingly, following tables are presented to give a bird's eye view in respect of our Gulshanabad and Mehharabad Centres.
